Children’s Ministry

Purpose and Mission

We believe that Scripture clearly teaches that the parents have the primary responsibility to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  This includes teaching them about God, disciplining them and striving to honor God before them in all they do.  The Children’s Ministry team here desires to be a support to our parents by encouraging them and supplementing them in the nurture of their children, in accordance with Scripture and the vision of our God-given elders.

The following four things: Joy in God, Glorifying God, Studying His Word, Testifying to His mighty work in our lives are the four fundamentals of how we try to teach the children and how we encourage our parents to do also in their spiritual nurturing of their children.

The children’s ministry of Orlando Grace Church exists to glorify God by:

  • Supporting and encouraging parents who are primarily responsible for teaching biblical truths to their children (Ephesians 6:4)
  • Making the whole counsel of Scripture known to children with special emphasis on the Gospel (Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Romans 1:16-17)
  • Praying for the children and relying on the Holy Spirit to regenerate their hearts through the faithful teaching of His Word (Romans 10:17; Ephesians 2:4-10)
  • Living faithfully before the children and modeling for them how Christians are called to respond to God, interact with each other, and with the world around us (Matthew 5:16; 1 Corinthians 11:1)

Safety and Security

Your child’s safety is extremely important to us at OGC. All volunteers are background checked and must be good standing covenant members of Orlando Grace. During Equipping Hour and the Worship service we have volunteers who monitor the halls. For all nursery and Equipping Hour classes drop off and pick up, we follow a strict matching tag system so no one can get your child but you.

Nursery Care

OGC provides safe, nurturing environments for children birth-three years old where our kids learn Bible stories, sing worship songs, and get solid foundational teaching about the Gospel. Nursery care is not only a ministry to our children but our parents as well. Nursery is provided during Equipping Hour classes and the Worship Service.
Koala Room – Infants up to Crawlers
Zebra Room – Walkers up to Runners
Cheetah Class – Runners and Potty Trained (2-3’s).

Our Cheetah class uses the Children Desiring God curriculum He Established a Testimony and He Has Spoken by His Son

Children’s Equipping Hour Classes

We currently offer three classes for our pre-school-elementary aged children during our 9:30 Equipping Hour. Each class uses a curriculum from Children Desiring God ministries. Our children learn about Jesus, redemption, and the promises of God in engaging and small group environments. Children receive Growing in Faith Together pages that help them engage their parents on the lesson and keep learning through the week.

The Eagles class is for pre-school and kindergarteners. They use Jesus, What a Savior!

During the Worship Service

Children ages 4 up through 2nd grade join their families in the first half of the worship service. They are dismissed during the sermon time to an age appropriate, engaging, and fun group called Grace Kids! Here they learn about Jesus and the Gospel through the Jesus Storybook Bible curriculum.  Through whole group teaching with movement and songs, to small groups where kids go more in depth, to prayer time, to applying the lesson through coloring, crafts, or games, our kids attending Grace Kids get solid Biblical teaching.

Children in 3rd grade and above join their families for the entire worship service. Before the sermon, a children’s bulletin is always passed out to anyone interested in using this tool to bring the sermon to life in an easy to read and follow along format of fill in the blanks, listening response, and more.
